As to the blog – I have not been posting material recently because – according to a poll of members at the AGM – most of them don’t even know how to open the blog so I would probably be wasting my time!

Also, information about events is already sent out to ALL members by email which kind of defeats the purpose. I don’t see the point of duplicating everything on the blog. However, I have to recognise that using email is more reliable and reaches many more members than the blog, because less than half the members look at the website or the blog. If information about club events was only posted on the blog only about 20 people who bother to log on would ever find out.

I have suggested to the committee that we use the blog as the main source of information but have to recognise that most members would never find out about any events that way – so we are forced to use a cumbersome system of emails.

It is also worth pointing out that it is not MY blog – it is the member’s blog. If people don’t post anything on it, then that is their problem. I designed the blog, and continue to maintain it, at the cost of some time and trouble purely as a service to the members. It is not my job to write it. If I have news about anything vaguely to do with classic cars and the club in general WHICH HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN SENT OUT BY EMAIL, and I think it might interest members, then I’ll post it.

As to your friend – the website has a page full of contact details for all members of the committee. All it would take would be an email asking for info and he/she would have got it. We do expect members and other interested people to make SOME effort themselves.

As to the next event, a provisional programme went out to all members as part of Qasim’s last “From the Chair” which you should have received. As I recall, many of the dates for events are shown in it, but are still blank, awaiting volunteers to organise them.

I think the committee may be looking for someone to organise the next one. If members don’t come forward to help organise things there won’t be any events – they don’t just drop out of the sky. Would you be interested in organising the next one? There are plenty of experienced run organisers in the club that would be more than happy to help you if you were….

The guest I brought to the treasure hunt ( and won it !) has been trying to follow the club but has complained to me of lack of information.

I have not seen anything on the blog since 30th December – have we suddenly become a secret society ? or am I missing something ?

There was talk that if the food was OK we might try meeting there for the next club night. I am waiting for confirmation about this before posting on the blog.

A belated Happy New Year to everyone. Just arrived back in Spain and looking for what’s on and it doesn’t seem like much !

Is there anything on in February – where’s the club night now, after a venue change in November ? Is there a run in February ?
