From the Committee October 2016

.

Usually we congratulate ourselves by choosing to live on one of Europe’s perfect climatic locations however on our first Mid Week Lunch meet we were confronted with rain the like of which we have not seen for some time. We had asked for member’s to turn out in their Classics but looking at the downpour we did not expect many to be so foolish that is, except for your Chairman. A member was heard to say that the Bentley was so well polished the rain just bounces off.

We were also surprised at the high turnout and many members confirmed that a lunchtime meet was more to their liking especially as driving in the dark with older cars puts an unnecessary strain on drivers.

The service at the “El Jinete” was excellent and of good value. Needless to say we will be returning to this venue. The feeling within our Club is that we should have two or three venues, carefully selected, so that we can rotate our Club meetings. So for the November Mid Week Lunch meet we have selected a venue more in the Marbella direction.

Our Club has frequented the venta a few years back when we had that unfortunate incident when one of our cars failing to proceed. We will not mention any names but safe is it to say that it was one of those high powered Italian jobs that is not doing so well in the current F1 competition. In all the years our Club has been in existence these incidents have been thankfully very rare.

  1. October Run from Los Almendros & Ronda ending at the Valparaiso

    1. The October run was organised by Ian Couch, Phoung, Pat & Roley Coleman. It took us to the Ronda area. Ian was called away at the last minute so our thanks go to Pat and Roley for stepping in and completing the organisation. On this occasion the Jaguar Club, who turned out in their numbers, came to join us.

    2. A very warm welcome to one and all. It is a great pleasure to meet car enthusiasts with different points of view on what constitutes a beautiful car. We will be holding more joint Club meetings with the Jaguar Club in the future and judging from this picture we virtually commandeered the Valparaiso Restaurant

Venue and Time for Club Night. Next Meeting on Wednesday 9th November at 1.30 p.m. at the “El Caserio”.

The El Caserio is located just off the A7/340 main coast road between San Pedro and Estepona. It has good parking facilities and a very pleasant outlook.

We have opted for the “Menu del Dia” at €9 per head but the drinks are at the discretion of each member and not included in the price.

A daytime run in your Classic to this location will be an uplifting experience. Your Committee has already sampled the cuisine and can report that the menu should cater for all tastes. Have a look at the link below to get a flavour of the place for those members that have not been to this restaurant.

Looking Ahead

12th November Run in Conjunction with the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club

For November Philip Wray of the JEC and SOL Club offered to organise a joint run starting at Trapiche, which is North of Velez Malaga in the direction of Vinuela. The Run will be going North and Eastward over the mountains ending at T.K’s in Torre del Mar for lunch.

While lunch is a long way from our Western member’s homes, the roads back are fast and the journey time short. The Tulip maps will follow when released by Philip.
