Our long-awaited Summer Garden Party finally happened on the Wednesday the 10thJuly. Your Committee, including myself were delighted with the turnout that gave some of us a little concern on how we were going to cater for many. We need not have worried as several members were only too glad to help, both the set-up of the furniture and pitch- in with the cooking itself. Our thanks go to John Richardson for transporting the meat from other side of Malaga to Valtocado and the Hebbi for sourcing the drinks and pudding. At this time of year, the sun is at its height hence we had to wait a while before members ventured out into the garden.
Our other great success was that we managed to obtain the services of Ian and Marcelo our music duo. These two musicians have been known to Lynda Teasdale and myself for many years both here in Spain and from England. They did not disappoint judging from the number of members dancing and coming up to myself asking me to compliment the two. Towards the end of the evening Ian’s wife Monica also lent a hand with the music, much to our delight. So here are some pictures of the evening sent in by Karsten and Angelica especially for this FTP.
As you can imagine we are planning other similar events for the coming years. As a Club, we are now into our sixteenth year and over the years we have had different formants for our summer event. All have been very successful but this year’s summer party did attract many more members who were willing to help. One of our members, who were at the very beginning of our Club, all those years ago, Linda and Mike Hennell were kind enough not only to provide additional chairs but invited both Hebbi and I to lunch the next day. A much-appreciated invite given that we were both a little worn from the previous night.
Estepona Classic Car Static Display
|Via the good offices of Nick Wadham and his many contacts in the Estepona Ayuntamiento we were allocated a prime spot indoors in the display area. We were blessed by joining up five more couples to our Club. A big welcome to everyone, we hope you enjoy our activities and look forward to seeing you at our events planned for the autumn. Another big thanks goes to Karsten and Angelica and Mike and Lynda for manning the event and attracting members of the public|
The event had been booked for most of the day closing at eight in the evening however, our members found that the attendance dropped off sharply around six in the afternoon and hence decided that there was no point in staying any longer and along with other exhibitors decided to decamp.
Mini Break September 13-15 to Sanlucar de Barrameda.
The September mini-break has become a fixture to our calendar over the last 6 years and is our chance to venture a little further and do something a bit different, it is also an opportunity to socialise and get to know one another a little better. This year the two drives will be quite gentle with a riverboat trip through the renowned Donana National Park on Saturday.
Friday meet for brunch (not included) at Las Camelias, San Roque. Departing at about 13.30, driving to ourhotel, the Macia Donana. There will be a choice of routes being either direct or more leisurely, taking between 1hr 45 and 3hr.
Friday evening we have a local restaurant booked for about 20.30hr where we will have a choice of menu, and this is included.
Saturday breakfast is included and after breakfast we will have an approx 3hr boat trip through the Donana National Park (included). This will leave time on Saturday afternoon to explore Sanlucar at leisure and maybe visit one of the many Bodegas (maybe more than one).
Saturday evening we will have a Gala dinner in the hotel restaurant (included), giving chance for the ladies to wear there finest dress, and hopefully the men will make their ladies proud too.
Sunday breakfast (included), then we drive via Ronda to our Sunday lunch at El Campanario, Estepona (included).
2 nights Bed & Breakfast at the Hotel Macia Donana, Sanlucar de Barraida.
Reserved parking at the hotel.

Good news everyone, after much cursing and expletives our website is operational again and I have asked for regular updates from the web hosting company to keep me informed of any further attacks and advise me on how to prevent such an occurrence in the future.
