From the Comittee – March 2016

The March run was organised by Qasim and Hebbi which was an outing to “El Torcal”, an area of outstanding beauty located about 30 km north of Málaga city in the direction of Antequera. As usual it was a perfect start to the day, from Alhaurin BP garage. We set off after a short briefing and a check on the number of cars which was another good turnout. We were joined on route by two more members, Terry and Christine Heathcote, who joined us at the Coffee stop.

However before we set off we had a message from Nick saying that we would not be allowed to go with our cars up to the El Torcal because the upper parking area was already full to capacity. The message caused some relief as originally we had been told that we would have to arrive before 12.45 if we wanted to park in the El Torcal itself. A couple of errors in our Road book did cause concern amongst our participants but they are very resourceful and all managed to meet up at our lunch venue. Apologies from your Chairman, he should have known better.

  1. Looking Ahead Club Night Wednesday 13th April

We reported last month that we intended to try an alternative Venue for Club Nights and so for the March Club night we met at the Italian restaurant “La Despensa” in Cabopino. The catering was very good however due to the late announcement of the change of venue our turnout was less than usual hence for this month of April we are reverting back to our usual and trusted location the “El Chaparral”

John & Marianne’s Run to Bodega Garcia Hidalgo Ronda 16th April

John and Marion have organised this unusual Run to visit to the Garcia Hidalgo Vineyard near Ronda.

They have arranged a Tour of the Vineyard. This also includes a wine tasting of 3 wines with Tapas, and a three course lunch.

The Email sent out on 23 March 2016 gives full information on the day’s events, which includes the 3 ‘meeting points’. These 3 groups will then all join at the Start point – the Cepsa Petrol Station at Ronda. In view of the short Tulip Run the car entry fee will be 5eu.

If you have not already confirmed that you will joining in on this Run please Email our Secretary Carol – as soon as possible.


We have samples of Caps and Shirts with Club logos. These have been obtained by Jim and Charlene and will be on display at each of our Club meetings.

Carol has already fulfilled 4 orders – 3 Shirts and 1 Fleece – for members. If you want to order anything please contact her and she will deal with it.

The costs are:

Club Shirt in a choice of colours, embroidered with Club Logo and your name – 14eu

Club Fleece in a choice of colours, embroidered with Club Logo and your name – 20eu

Cap embroidered with Club Logo – 6.50eu

To give our Club a visible identity on Club Runs we hope as many members as possible will buy a Shirt and/or a Fleece.

As was suggested at the AGM – Ray and Carol have sourced Car Plaques depicting our Club Logo and website address. Each membership, either single or joint, will be given a free Plaque at their first attendance at a Club dinner or Run. If you would like any extra plaques these will cost 5eu each.
