The car is a 1999 MG F Mk 2 Steptronic with 1.8 K series engine and automatic gear box with alternative choice of six speed clutchless manual via the gear stick or can be controled with the F1 style paddles on the steering wheel.
The car is one of the early production models, only 26 were registered in 1999 and most of these were to MG Rover. V277LOB was the company car of a young BMW lawyer working and living at Gaydon in Warwickshire.
The car was regularly returned to the development department to check how the automatic gearbox was preforming in daily service.
We have updated and replaced most items except the body the car now has leather trim with walnut dash and door trims and most importantly in the UK a new hood with a heated rear window.
Jan and I are members of the Gloucestershire MG Owners Club and use the MG on regular monthly runs although in the winter this is usually to a country pub for Sunday lunch. The club puts on an annual run called “the Cotswold Caper” an event that attracts around 180 entries and makes around £4000 for a local charity chosen by a vote of club members. The photo is Jan and myself on the one chance we had to do the run as we normally marshal, and on this occasion we were running last on the road to provide assistance to other participants who may have needed it.
